Golden Siberian cat resting in warm sunlight at home

SNOWMITTENS SIBERIANS CATTERY · SINCE. 2026

Siberian cats, raised in the quiet of Queenstown.

An engaged couple with a small cattery tucked into the heart of Otago. One carefully planned litter a year, health-tested parents, and kittens raised in the warmth of our home.

Litter announcement

We're expecting our first litter by the end of the year.

Siobhan and Oliver's first kittens are planned for late 2026, with kittens ready to meet their families in early 2027. We expect possible black, golden and white tabbies. Enquiries are open now — homes are matched by fit rather than first-come-first-serve.

Indoor Cats

Kittens are born in the house, not a cattery block — used to dogs, family and cosy nights.

Health first

HCM scanned, PK-Def and FeLV/FIV clear parents. Full records travel with every kitten.

One litter a year

Small numbers, happy parents and honest timelines. We never rush a queen.

Forest Ange Oliver

Blue lynx point & white · Neva Masquerade

Oliver comes to us from Forest Ange Cattery in Chiba, Japan. He is a blue lynx point and white — a Neva Masquerade — with the strong, powerful build the breed is known for, a heavy ruff and a dense triple coat.

Oliver is a sweet, kind boy who loves a cuddle and is an unapologetic foodie — first to the bowl, first onto a lap. Every kitten here carries something of him.

Canna Siobhan

Brown tabby queen · past champion bloodlines

Siobhan comes to us from Canna Cattery in Tokushima, Japan — a cattery known for importing high-quality Siberians directly from Russia. Her father took the Junior Champion WCF title in Russia in 2018, and her dam's parents are both World Champions.

Siobhan is gorgeous and knows it — she carries herself like a queen. She gets along beautifully with our Samoyed, Romeo, with our other cats, and she is friendly with every person who comes through the door.

SIOBHAN AND OLIVER AS KITTENS FEATURING MAXWELL

A small cattery in Otago

While living in Japan, my fiancée and I fell for the Siberian breed at a cat café — and decided we couldn't come home to New Zealand without two of them. Oliver and Siobhan made the journey with us to Otago.

Our first litter is expected to be mostly golden corin black tabbies like Siobhan, with the possibility of some traditional black tabbies too. In time we hope to add a Neva Masquerade queen so we can raise Neva Masquerade kittens as well.

Everything here is deliberately small. One litter a year, honest timelines, and a take-back guarantee for the whole of your cat's life. We would rather wait a season than  rush a queen.

Contact

Say Hello

Write to us with a little about your home, other animals, and whether you'd like a boy or a girl. Breeding is a small hobby for us rather than a business, so we reply to every message ourselves — usually within a few days, slower in kitten season.

Enquiries are answered in the order they arrive. Once you decide on a specific kitten, a non-refundable deposit will reserve that kitten for you. We match kittens to homes by temperament, not by order.

How it works

From enquiry to homecoming

  1. 01

    Say hello

Tell us about your home, other animals, whether you'd like a boy or a girl, pattern preference and more.

  2. 02

    Join the list

To ensure the right match, kittens are matched to the best-fitting homes rather than first-come-first-serve.

  3. 03

    Twelve weeks in

Vaccinated, chipped, wormed, litter-confident, desexed and ready to meet their families.

  4. 04

    Afterwards

We answer messages for the whole of your cat's life. Take-back guarantee, always.

Our ethics

Why we breed

We breed because we want to share our love of the Siberian breed with others — and to see it thrive here in New Zealand, carefully, slowly, and in the smallest numbers that make sense. Every kitten we raise has a home waiting for it, and every decision starts with the wellbeing of our cats rather than a calendar or a waiting list. We are currently in the process of getting registered with NZCF.

Cats first, always

Siobhan and Oliver are family pets before they are breeding cats. They live in our home, sleep on our beds, and retire with us when their breeding days are done.

Health before volume

Parents are PKD, FIV, FeLV and HCM negative, and our own testing is completed before any litter. One carefully planned litter a year gives our queen the rest she deserves.

Honest, unhurried matching

Kittens go to the homes that suit them, not to whoever asks first. We would rather someone wait a season than place a kitten in the wrong house.

A home for life

Kittens leave desexed, vaccinated, chipped and wormed at twelve weeks. We answer questions for the whole of your cat's life, and our take-back guarantee never expires.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

When is your first litter expected?
Our first litter is expected late 2026 to early 2027. Oliver and Siobhan are still growing up, and we will not breed them a day earlier than they are ready.
What will the kittens look like?
We expect mostly golden corin black tabbies like Siobhan, with the possibility of some traditional black tabbies. In the future we hope to add a Neva Masquerade queen so we can raise colourpoint kittens as well.
How does the waitlist work?
Write to us with a little about your home, other animals, whether you would like a boy or a girl, and any pattern preference. Kittens are matched to the best-fitting home by temperament rather than first-come-first-serve.
What health testing do you do?
Both parents' lines are PKD, FIV, FeLV and HCM negative, and Oliver and Siobhan's own testing will be completed before their first litter. Full records travel with every kitten.
What age do kittens go home?
Kittens leave at twelve weeks — vaccinated, microchipped, wormed, litter-confident, desexed and used to a carrier.
Are Siberians hypoallergenic?
No cat is truly hypoallergenic, but Siberians tend to produce less Fel d 1 protein than most breeds, and many allergy sufferers live comfortably with them. We always recommend spending time with the breed before committing.
Are your cats indoor cats?
Yes. Our cats are raised inside the house alongside our Samoyed, Romeo, and we ask that kittens go to indoor or securely enclosed homes.
Do you ship kittens?
We prefer to deliver kittens within the Otago region. For homes further away we can discuss a safe travel option.
What if things change and I can no longer keep my cat?
We offer a take-back guarantee for the whole of your cat's life. Whatever happens and whenever it happens, they can always come home to us.
